This year’s pilgrimage takes place on June 5 – 10 (Tuesday – Sunday). The theme is All God’s Creation.
Pilgrimage. What does that look like in today’s world? The Episcopal Church says, “A journey taken with religious or devotional intention. They may be made as prayers of thanksgiving, penitence, intercession, or petition.” At Holy Trinity, it’s a long-beloved tradition for our youth to travel together over the summer to experience God in new places.
All youth currently in grades 6 – 12 are invited to join us for this year’s youth pilgrimage. We will begin our journey at 9 a.m. at HTPon Tuesday, June 5 and then spend the next several days exploring new places and being in community.
We will not provide an exact itinerary at this time (and will let you lean into the fun of mystery!). Instead, each day is described below with one word. We will give parents the addresses of each destination prior to our departure. Trip leaders are Nancy Qarmout and Mary Martha Clark. We will add more leaders if attendance requires.
Day one, June 5: beginning
“In the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth…” (Genesis 1:1)
“In the beginning was the Word…” (John 1:1)
Day two, June 6: honey
“I have come down to deliver them from the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land to a good and broad land, a land flowing with milk and honey” (Exodus 3:8)
Day three, June 7: cross
“If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.” (Mark 8:34)
Day four, 8: dwell
“Then justice will dwell in the wilderness, and righteousness abide in the fruitful field.” (Isaiah 32:16)
Day five, June 9: sea
“For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them” (Exodus 20:11)
Day six, June 10: worship
“Worship the Lord with gladness; come into his presence with singing.” (Psalm 100:2)
Total cost per youth will be $350.
Please register by April 27 with a $200 deposit. Make checks payable to Holy Trinity Parish with a memo for “youth pilgrimage.” Please leave checks at Nancy’s office door or mailbox.
Mary Martha and I have had a blast planning our trip. We look forward to sharing this experience with your youth.
Yours in Christ,
